Jesus frequently used questions to bring home his point. Many of them have a timeless quality that speaks to people through the ages. Below are a few of Jesus’ questions. Read them over and ask the Holy Spirit to direct one to your heart today. You may want to look up the question and read the context it comes from. Why do you think this question is the one you are drawn to? What do you think Jesus is saying to you? How are you going to answer?

  • If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Matthew 5:46-47

  • “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? Matthew 7:9-10

  • Were not all ten lepers cleansed? Where are the other nine? Luke 17:17
  • Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?”
  • “Nothing,” they answered. Luke 22:35
  • Do you want to get well? John 5:6
  • Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? John 8:10
  • Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26
  • Do you understand what I have done for you? John 13:12
  • Is this your own idea or did others talk to you about me? John 18:34
  • Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for? John 21:15
