Really Sweet Dreams

Last night we put a pork roast in the oven so it would be ready when we got home from church. At 10 PM, we slid the cold roaster into the oven and turned out the lights.

The unexpected side effect was a house permeated by the mouthwatering aroma of this delicious roast. Every time I woke up last night, I found myself thinking about a delicious upcoming meal. Every room in the house was filled with this delectable scent.

Christ starts quietly in our hearts. Slowly, the scent of his grace begins to permeate to every corner of our lives: our minds, our homes, our school life, our job world, our leisure time.

With the roast, we could close a door or start an exhaust fan to limit the smell to the kitchen, but why would we want to? The sweet aroma filled our home with anticipation and promise.

Grace improves every aspect of our life. We inhibit God’s work in our life if we limit the areas we expose to grace. The goal of faith is not to an hour in worship or a few minutes in daily prayer. The goal is total immersion.

The roast was great…grace is greater!
